So the first thing was to find a printers that could create
a good product for a reasonable price, I ended up looking at both Printed.com
and Digital Printing and ordered example packs from both to get an closer look
at their products as well as the product in comparison to the price. In short I
ended up picking Printed.com as they had a really great quality product with a
lot of choices on paper and a reasonable price, while Digital Printing had
products which just didn’t have a very wide range as well as some of the products
just not having the luxury feel of Pirinted.com that and with Printed.com you
could buy the acetone bags for the cards and prints to the size of the print so
they fit perfectly unlike Digital Printing where I would have had to put out
extra funds to buy the acetate bags which simply wouldn’t fit as well; making Printed.com
the right choice. As for the printing amount I printed as many as available in
the budget with the quality of card I wanted, for the greeting cards this ended
up being 50 cards, at a price of 72p per unit with three pounds left spare to
pay for the shipping. The card itself would be a square 148mmx148mm in size
printed on uncoated recyclable 300gsm paper for an environmentally friendly but
nicely texture thick feeling paper, along with laid envelopes and bags. For the
prints initially I was interested in Giclee printing but the price of printing
in this way with the cost of how much each print will sell for is just not a
profitable option so instead I opted for the custom side poster print, this
allowed for still a good print, just not Giclee, and at a fraction of the
price, I ended up choosing a matte finish on 250 paper and for the £60 budget I
got 15 printed of each design. I then opted for next day delivery and after two
hours of assembling the prints in there acetate bags I had my product. I also
took a number out of both the cards and prints and made them into packs to sell
as a set with a discounted price for all three of them, meaning I was now ready
for selling.
