Mind Map

Before truly beginning Market Research I first need to know what product I was going to see, to start this process I create a mind map brain storming different potential products I could produce.

Out of the options presented here quite a few of them need to written straight of from the bat since they would simply take to long to do, such as enamel pints, cushions, t-shirt design, and embroidery. After that some of the other items here are just not as marketable as others, such as key rings, coasters, gift bags, and potentially mugs to which puts them out of the running. This leaves us with Greeting cards, wrapping paper, art prints, t-shirt design, and notebook and journals, as potential products I could create. Out of all of them I can only realty choose two as I will need to bulk buy the order and only have a limited amount to spend and so to much diversifying will end up being more expensive and out of budget. Out of the five options t-shirt design is probably my least favourite and this is because it doesn’t really fit that well with the other products here as the illustrations I create will have to work on everything they are printed on as well as the set up cost being much higher which would not work well with my budget. The next potential item was wrapping paper, as from going to market stalls and researching what sells at them wrapping paper is a rarity and is usually something just sold in card shops and occasionally online making it a potential money hole hence why I came to the decision to drop it. Next was notebooks and journals which is a product I myself really enjoy and would love to create but after a short bit of research the set up for a small scale operation like this put against the size of the profit from each unit sale would be far to small and so just too expensive again to set up for this project. This left me with art prints and greeting cards and the remaining too offers and they are a pretty much perfect fit as they are reasonably cheap to produce, can be done quickly, and I have experience working with both cards and prints, it also helped to find out that the card market is booming as just last year 1.6 million pounds where spent on greeting cards making the British card market the biggest in the world (Greetingcardassociation.org.uk, 2019). This combined with my experience in both areas and the fact it works with the given time frame makes it the perfect product to use for the enterprise.
